Landlords at popular Stockport pub named one of the best call it a day after 25 years

The landlords of a famed pub in Stockport which has been named as one of the best in the North West have decided to call it quits after 25 years.

Paul and Pauline Treanor have held the reins of The Midway pub on New Bridge Lane since January 1999 and managed to turn the premises from ‘disrepair’ into a respected gastro pub.

In November last year, the Midway was named as the North West Pub of the Year at the Stars of Stonegate Awards, which recognises the best of Stonegate’s national pubs and restaurants. The Facebook post read: “After 25 wonderful years at the helm; Pauline and I are sadly leaving The Midway later this year. It has been a privilege to be able to serve the people of Stockport for the last 30 years between The Midway and our previous pub, The Blarney Stone. “We are so thankful for the great number of you who have supported us during these years and who we now proudly call friends.
