Julian Alvarez vowed to continue supporting Manchester City after his exit from the club was confirmed. Atletico have paid an initial £64m in a deal that could rise to £81.5m (€95m) in a deal that is by far the most City have ever received for a player.

The 24-year-old gets his wish of more guaranteed minutes up front and leaves after winning six trophies with the Blues in two years.

Pep Guardiola has already spoken of how grateful City are to Alvarez for his performances - most notably filling in for Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne last season - and the club are still to decide how he will be replaced.

As the Argentine starts a new chapter of his career, he thanked everyone at the Etihad for their part in developing him into the player he is today.
