NEIGHBOURS star Joan Sydney has died at the age of 83. The actress played Valda Sheergold on the Aussie soap. Joan's colleague Sally-Anne Upton said she died on December 28.
Joan, who was born in London, made her screen debut in 1957 at the age of 18. She became well known for her role as Matron Sloane in the series A Country Practice.
Joan appeared in 453 episodes from 1983 to 1990, and in 1989 won the Silver Logie Award for Most Outstanding Actress. More showbiz newsOH MAE!
