A TV detective has disclosed the "real reason" Jay Slater didn't wait for a lift from a remote village to his accommodation in Tenerife on the day he disappeared.
Mark Williams-Thomas stated that he interviewed a man named Ayub Qassim, 31, who claimed to have driven Mr Slater to an AirBnB in Masca after meeting him in Playa de las Americas in the south of the island.Ayub Qassim reported that Jay, 19, left the AirBnB alive following a gathering that took place after a music festival he had been to.Jay, hailing from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, was said to have been transported to Masca by Mr Qassim and another individual, both of whom Spanish police have not considered relevant to their investigation into Jay's disappearance. It is thought that the apprentice bricklayer missed a bus and opted to walk the journey, which is approximately an 11-hour trek.
The search for the teenager was called off by Tenerife's Guardia Civil after extensive efforts involving helicopters, drones, and search dogs, reports the Express.
