HBO Max is getting in on the evil clown business with an IT prequel series. The two newest IT movies, where were based on novels by Stephen King, debuted in 2017 and 2019, grossing over $1.1 billion at the global box office. Click inside to read more… According to Variety, the series will be called Welcome To Derry and will include the origin story of Pennywise the Clown.
The new show is also expected to begin in the 1960s in the time leading up to the events of It: Part One, which came out in 2017.
Additionally, director Andy Muschietti, who helmed both new movies is attached to executive produce the series along with Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs.
In IT: Chapter Two, Pennywise returned 27 years later to terrorize the town of Derry, Maine, once again. Now adults, the childhood friends are brought back together after having gone their separate ways.
