Black Lives In Music has launched a new survey to tackle bullying and harassment in the music industry, with backing from Nova Twins, V V Brown and more.Founded in 2021, the organisation seeks to address racial inequality in music and create opportunities for Black, Asian and ethnically diverse artists and professionals.BLIM published its ‘Being Black in the Music Industry’ report that year, revealing that 86 per cent of Black musicians said there were barriers to progression in their careers. Additionally, it showed that 63 per cent of Black music creators had experienced direct or indirect racism in the music industry, rising to 71 per cent for racial microaggressions.Today (April 18), BLIM has shared details of its ‘YourSafetyYourSay’ survey on bullying and harassment in the music industry in response to the Parliamentary ‘Misogyny In Music’ inquiry.It is calling on music professionals across the UK to participate in “ground-breaking research” in a bid to “eradicate bullying and harassment” from the industry.“After becoming aware of shocking abuse, BLIM will use the anonymous survey to collect real-world data.

Foo Fighters have announced a handful of 2024 US tour dates with Nova Twins serving as opening support.The new dates that have been added are part of Dave Grohl and co.’s forthcoming ‘Everything or Nothing at All’ Tour which is set to kick off in May of next year.The newly announced dates will take place on May 1, 2024 at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas, Texas followed by the Coastal Credit Union Music Park in Raleigh, North Carolina on May 7 and the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 9.Tickets for the newly added dates will go on sale on Thursday, December 14 at 10am local time. Soft Play, Nova Twins and Lambrini Girls have announced that they will be playing an intimate London show for Fender guitars.In honour of the launch of the Vintera II series, Fender will be reviving London’s iconic Marquee Club for one night only. Emerging in 1958, the Marquee Club became a prominent figure within London’s West End.The legendary venue hosted the likes of the Sex Pistols, The Damned, Genesis and Jethro Tull, and was home to The Rolling Stones‘ first live performance in 1962.

Pussy Riot have teamed up with Nova Twins for a new single, ‘Bad Trip’, which also features Argentinian producer Mykka.The track is the Russian feminist punk group’s first new single since May’s ‘Chastity’, which featured guest spots from Alice Glass and Boys Noize.Pussy Riot leader Nadya Riot (formerly Nadya Tolokonnikova) said of the song: “Mykka played this beat for me and I got obsessed and begged her to give it to me. It sounds menacing and dominant.“I’m a big fan of Bosch, so I wanted to imagine what would be my version of hell / bad trip in this track — being mansplained and totally dominated would be a version of hell for me, that’s why my verse goes: ‘Mansplain me! Elton John praised the Nova Twins in a recent interview ahead of their performances on the same day of Glastonbury.Speaking with BBC Radio 1’s Clara Amfo, John shared his adoration of the duo claiming that their energy “Could light up Sheffield”. He shared: “These girls rock my world. I’ve had them on the [Apple Music Radio] show, I’ve played their music, too.“It’s so wonderful, what they do.

Nova Twins have been named as ambassadors for London’s Institute of Contemporary Music Performance brand-new Creative Musicianship Scholarship.The initiative was created to provide an opportunity to anyone passionate about creative musicianship who may not be able to seek Higher Education as part of their career.The duo – consisting of Amy Love and Georgia South – announced their scholarship with the IMCP on Twitter, sharing: “Being given an opportunity can make all the difference and certainly if it wasn’t for the opportunities we’ve had, then Nova Twins wouldn’t exist as we do today.”The scholarship is open for applications and will cover the cost of undergraduate tuition fees of one UK-based home fee status student or one international student for the entire three years of the BA (Hons) Creative Musicianship degree beginning September 2023.So excited to announce our brand new scholarship for @ICMPLondon’s BA Creative Musicianship degree, offering one lucky student full funding for the entire three years of their course! Watch our video interview with the duo above.Speaking to NME on the red carpet of The BRIT Awards 2023 – where they were nominated for Best Group and Alternative/Rock Act – the duo discussed their rocked up version of the track which was released last December.“We got the chance to submit a remix, but when they actually said they loved it we were like ,’No way!’, because you never know if it’ll even fly,” bassist Georgia South explained.Singer and guitarist Amy Love continued: “And we love the song as well, the song is so sexy,”“As soon as we heard it, we were like: ‘This sounds like it needs a heavy riff on it'”, South finished.When asked which of the other attendees they’d like to hop on a remix with, they shouted out BRITS Rising Star Award winners FLO.

So, after a month’s delay – due to the death of the Queen on the night when this was originally supposed to happen – Little Simz was last night handed this year’s Mercury Prize for her album ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’. As we all knew it would be. I mean, imagine if they hadn’t given it to Little Simz.Even though it was obvious that none of the others would win, they all still turned up to the ceremony at the Hammersmith Apollo. All except Harry Styles, who couldn’t be fucked.

Little Simz has won the 2022 Mercury Prize for her album ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’.The London rapper was favourite to take the prize and beat off competition from fellow favourites Self Esteem and Wet Leg at a live ceremony at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith tonight (October 18).Accepting the trophy, she said: “Wow, I’m very, very overwhelmed. I’m very grateful, glory to God.

The Mercury Prize has announced details of its rescheduled 2022 ceremony, which is set to take place next week – the original show having been pulled at the very last minute due to the death of the Queen last month.Eleven of this year’s nominated artists – Fergus McCreadie, Gwenno, Jessie Buckley & Bernard Butler, Joy Crookes, Kojey Radical, Little Simz, Nova Twins, Sam Fender, Self Esteem, Wet Leg and Yard Act – will perform live.Harry Styles will be the only absence, because he just can’t be bothered. Also, he’s on tour in the US. I suppose thats a fairly good excuse.

RAYE has covered Kate Bush‘s ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)’ as part of this year’s Live Lounge Month – check out the video below.The singer visited BBC Radio 1 yesterday (September 7) to record two live tracks, beginning with her recent single ‘Black Mascara’.RAYE then took on Bush’s classic 1985 single, which has seen a huge spike in popularity of late owing to its appearance in Stranger Things 4.For her version, the London artist removed the galloping beat and synths that feature in the original song in favour of piano and stings.“I didn’t feel it was the right thing to change much. We’re bringing it down – no drums, kind of like [a] ballad,” RAYE explained of her moody, stripped-back take on ‘Running Up That Hill’.“[Bush] 100 per cent wrote this record, 100 per cent produced it… she’s like one of my idols.

Self Esteem has delivered a stripped-down cover of ‘Remember’ by Becky Hill and David Guetta while performing for the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.Rebecca Lucy Taylor’s primarily a cappella rendition of the 2021 song considerably pares back the high-energy electro-pop of the original. For the most part, she’s accompanied solely by a group of backing vocalists providing harmonies, with some understated but effective piano chords towards the latter half of the song.Taylor also performed ‘Fucking Wizardry’ from last year’s ‘Prioritise Pleasure’, also with a relatively sparse arrangement.

Nova Twins have extended their UK and European ‘Supernova’ tour into 2023 – tickets will be available from here.The London rock duo, who released their second album ‘Supernova’ in June, were already set to play headline shows in Glasgow, Manchester and London this November following a run of North American and European dates.Today (September 5), it’s been confirmed that Nova Twins will return to these shores next February after wrapping up their forthcoming Australian gigs.The stint will kick off with two Irish concerts in Belfast and Dublin on February 10 and 11, respectively. Further shows will take place in Norwich (17), Bristol (18), Liverpool (23), Edinburgh (24), Newcastle (25), Leeds (26), Birmingham (March 2) and Southampton (3).A final gig for the 2023 UK and Ireland tour is scheduled for Brighton on Saturday, March 4.

Mercury Prize have been released, with Self Esteem, Little Simz and Wet Leg among the favourites.The 12 albums that have been shortlisted for the Album Of The Year award were announced earlier this summer.Self Esteem’s ‘Prioritise Pleasure’ is currently favourite to clinch the prize on aggregate bookies’ website Oddschecker, with odds of 27-10, closely followed by Little Simz’ ‘Sometimes I Might be Introvert’ at 3-1 while Wet Leg’s self-titled debut album has odds of 9-2.Gwenno’s ‘Tresor’ is further back at 12-1 while Yard Act’s ‘The Overload’ is 14-1. Nova Twins’ ‘Supernova’ is coming in at 16-1 while Kojey Radical‘s ‘Reason To Smile’ is at 22-1, closely followed by albums by Sam Fender, Jessie Buckley & Bernard Butler.Harry Styles’ ‘Harry’s House’ is tied at 28-1 with Joy Crookes‘ ‘Skin’ while Fergus McCreadie currently has odds of 40-1 with ‘Forest Floor’.Speaking about her nomination, Self Esteem recently told NME.

The 1975, Wet Leg and Yungblud are among the acts set to perform for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month this September.The station’s annual series of special sessions returns on September 5 with a set from Yungblud, who is due to release his self-titled third studio album three days prior (September 2).Further performances will follow from Self Esteem (September 6), RAYE (7) and Wet Leg (8) ahead of an as-yet-unannounced “very special guest” on September 12. Another mystery session is scheduled for September 15.Elsewhere, fans will be able to catch an unseen track from Harry Styles’ Live Lounge show that was filmed earlier this year.The 1975, who are gearing up to drop their fifth record ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’ on October 14, are lined up to close Live Lounge Month 2022 on September 29.Other names on the bill include Willow, Nova Twins, Knucks, Beabadoobee, Rina Sawayama and Tom Grennan.
