After her shock announcement that she’s in the early stages of receiving treatment for cancer, it’s thought that the Princess of Wales Kate Middleton will be adopting some significant lifestyle changes in order to give herself the best chance of a speedy recovery.

Kate, 42, is currently spending some time away over the Easter break with William and their three children. This break from the spotlight will no doubt have provided a much-needed sanctuary for the royal as she undergoes preventative chemotherapy to treat the condition that was discovered following her major abdominal surgery in January.

When she addressed the nation about her health in March in a moving speech, Kate made a point of saying that she was, “focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body and spirit." And while the Princess of Wales is thought to have followed a very healthy diet even before she was ill, and is said to enjoy cooking nutritious meals for her family, experts say she should now be making every effort to make any changes she needs to in order to aid her recovery.

According to Caroline Mason, a nutritionist and co-founder of Baldo and Mason, who spoke to Hello magazine, said the mum of three should currently be avoiding any foods that are inflammatory, such as processed foods and animal fats, as prolonged inflammation can weaken the immune system, which will already be low because of the chemotherapy.
