When Sofyan Amrabat left Carrington at the end of May, he only had eyes on a return to the club. Signing for Manchester United had been his dream and after ending his loan spell by lifting the FA Cup he didn't want to wake up any time soon.

United hadn't ruled out bringing the Morrocan back to the club, either. His season-long loan only got going in its final weeks, when he was called back into the starting XI and shored up a midfield that had been too open for most of the campaign.

Amrabat started just one game for United between December 17 and May 12, and it looked certain that his loan would be just that.

He was making little impact at the club. But the 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace changed everything. Six days later, he was a surprise inclusion against Arsenal and then started the final four games of the season, including the FA Cup triumph at Wembley, when he played the full 90 minutes.
