'I was going through car crash menopause at 31, no one prepares you for how it really is'
dailyrecord.co.ukA former Scots teacher has shared the heartbreaking journey of going through early menopause at 31 after a shock cancer diagnosis.
Mary Jones was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2022 and as part of her treatment, she was put into a medically induced menopause.The now 34-year-old was trying to conceive with her partner before she got the earth-shattering news and had to start chemotherapy immediately so she didn't have a chance to freeze her eggs.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live she said: "I was diagnosed in 2022 when I lived in Kenya. "The medical team told me what treatment I would be getting and mentioned I would be put into menopause.
They didn't go into any detail or sit me down to tell me what was going to happen with that. "Just before my diagnosis, me and my partner at the time were trying for a baby.
