"I'm thrilled": Families react to easing of restrictions on care home visits

Families in Greater Manchester are celebrating following the Government's announcement that care home residents will be able to receive 'unlimited' visits from Monday.

Currently, residents can only nominate three people for regular visits to care settings but from Monday there will be no limit as guidance brought in to tackle Omicron is eased. For many families, it's a time of celebration for a new level of freedom in contact with their loved ones. Care home bosses have also welcomed the news, in some cases tentatively as they struggle with staff shortages amid the Omicron outbreak and general weariness after two years of the pandemic.

Some managers have also told the Manchester Evening News they were not informed of the rule changes until they were sent out by the Department of Health as a press release.
