With outdoor temperatures dropping all over the UK, many households will be trying to think of ways to save money on their heating bills.Whilst it can be a good idea to pile on the layers and invest in an electric blanket, the temperature in your home ideally shouldn't drop below 15C according to experts from Gov.uk - especially if you live with an elderly relative. But there are some ways to save cash without resorting to having no heating at all, and specialists from the Energy Saving Trust say that one simple change could see up to £100 knocked off your annual bill.Despite the energy price cap falling on October 1, fuel bills are still likely to remain high for many households.
But the experts say that by making one simple adjustment to your boiler, you could save some money throughout the colder months.
They said: "If you are warm enough, try turning your thermostat down by one degree, which could save you around £100 a year.
According to the World Health Organisation, the lowest comfortable temperature for most people is between 18°C and 21°C."The experts added that by doing this, you could potentially save up to £100 on your annual energy bills - which is ideal during the ongoing cost of living crisis.
