Following the collapse of their deal with Spotify, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's next move was recently revealed. The Sun reported that the couple had bought the rights to a hit romantic novel Meet Me At The Lake for roughly £3million in a "Hollywood-or-bust move." The love story, written by former journalist Carley Fortune, echoes many parts of Harry and Meghan's real-life relationship.

Set in Toronto, Canada - where Meghan lived when she started dating Harry - it tells the story of a couple who meet in their 30s and deals with themes including childhood trauma over losing a parent in a car crash, mental health and post-natal depression.

The novel also looks at alcohol and drug use, both of which the Prince covered in his memoir released this year, Spare. Buying the rights to the book marks the first time Archewell Productions has paid to turn a novel into a fictional drama as part of their Netflix deal reported to be £80million.

It is their first move since losing their £16million contract with streaming giant Spotify. While the move is a departure from what we have seen the couple regularly do, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has called the move "curious" and added that the couple "can’t get away from looking inwards." Jennie told OK!: "I can understand that Harry and Meghan have to come up with content to fulfil their Netflix contract, and I think everyone will be pleased that they are moving away from bashing the Royal family. "But this does seem rather a curious choice of book, with some obvious parallels with their own lives. "Somehow, it seems they just can’t get away from looking inwards, and inviting comparisons with what they have gone through.
