Grangemouth push for railway station as locals asked for views on public transport

An online survey running for the next three weeks will look at how public transport in Grangemouth could be improved. The Falkirk Council survey will coincide with a drop-in event being held in Grangemouth town hall tomorrow (Tuesday) where people can give their opinions on local public transport.Grangemouth Community Council has welcomed the consultation as members firmly believe that a railway station opening in Grangemouth would bring jobs and an economic boost to the town. Read more: Villagers plead with Falkirk Council to help save community hall from closure This consultation could be an important step in making that a reality.The group has been asking for a while now for a transport appraisal (STAG) looking specifically at the need for a passenger rail station in Grangemouth.They now hope that people will make their views known through the survey and event.The survey is being conducted by Stantec UK Ltd on behalf of Falkirk Council and is the first step in a process that could lead to major change.Firstly, however, they need to know what kind of issues people are facing at the moment.Local people are invited to share their experiences of getting around the area - whether that is walking, travelling by bus or cycling.The study will also look at the experiences of those who travel to the town as well as any issues faced by businesses in Grangemouth.The answers will help make 'the case for change' and create a ‘long list’ of potential future transport improvement options for Grangemouth.The town is expected to undergo radical changes over the next ten years with investment from the £90 million Growth Deal and the introduction of Green Freeport status.But the community council believes it is vital for the
