dailyrecord.co.ukThe football world rallied around Alan Hansen today after it emerged the former Liverpool, Partick Thistle and Scotland star is seriously ill.Former teammate John Aldridge and TV colleague Gary Lineker led the tributes to the retired centre back, after Liverpool FC announced Hansen, of Sauchie, Clackmannanshire, is in hospital.
He made the switch to the Anfield club in 1977 after four years with Partick Thistle, where he won the 1975/76 First Division.
The 68-year-old also won 26 caps for Scotland.His 18-year playing career saw him inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in both Scotland and England.
And the news of his condition was met with an outpouring of support from fans, former colleagues and rival supporters.Lineker and Hansen famously went from rivals to teammates, working alongside each other on the BBC's Match of the Day programme for a number of years.
