Coca-Cola fans have voiced their frustrations over a change to the design of their bottle lids. Last year the company announced plans to introduce a new cap for plastic bottles of Coke, Coke Zero, Diet Coke, Fanta, Sprite Dr Pepper and Lilt.
The new 'attached' caps are designed to remain on the bottle after being opened to help prevent litter and make the bottle more recyclable.
According to Coca-Cola, despite their bottles being 100% recyclable, the lids have often been thrown away and littered. The company say they hoped the move creates “circular economy” for plastic, in their efforts to become more sustainable. Consumers have taken to social media to air out their grievances about the new design with some people saying they have been left with cuts to their hand.
