Four-day Airdrie road closure as £2 million sewer project progresses

A busy Airdrie road will be closed throughout the four-day September weekend holiday to allow for the latest stage of a £2 million sewer upgrade project.The B803 Raebog Road route in Glenmavis is to shut between Windsor Drive and Appin Way, just west of the mini-roundabout, while a new water storage pipe is connected to the existing sewer network.Scottish Water officials say that a full closure is required for the four days from Friday to Monday, September 27 to 30 to complete the work – and temporary traffic lights will then be in place on parts of Glenmavis Road for the next six months.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Work is being carried out by Scottish Water Horizons, and the first phase of the project has involved the installation of a storage pipe in the grass verge between Dunvegan and Windsor Drive since construction began in July.Now it will be connected to the existing sewer during the four-day closure, during which motorists will be diverted along Stirling Road, Dykehead Road and Glenmavis Road.
