Former soldier from Wythenshawe accused of terror offences has case dropped

hereProsecutors had alleged Mr Burke had repeatedly shown a desire to leave the UK to return to Syria in order to fight for Kurdish militia.He was charged with three terror offences, including helping Daniel Newey, another British man who had allegedly gone to Syria last year.A hearing at the Old Bailey also heard that charges against Mr Newey’s father Paul, 49, and brother, Sam, 19, from Solihull in the West Midlands, who were both accused of helping him, had also been dropped.Prosecuting, Simon Davis said a review of the case had found there was no longer a 'realistic prospect of conviction'.Andrew Hall QC, for Mr Burke, told the court it was in the 'interests of justice' that the reasons for the decision were known.Mr Justice Sweeney.
