A Dumfries couple enjoyed a Christmas carol concert in the company of members of the royal family. Police civilian worker Amanda Beaton and her husband, Ian, were among the guests invited to attend the festive event, attended by the Prince and Princess of Wales, in London’s Westminster Abbey.
The recent concert was filmed and was broadcast on Christmas Eve on ITV as Royal Carols: Together at Christmas. Westminster Abbey’s world-renowned choir performed the carols alongside musical performances from Beverley Knight, Adam Lambert, Jacob Collier, Freya Ridings, James Bay and others.
The lucky couple said the concert “brought tears” to their eyes and they could hardly believe they were there. Amanda said: “It all felt like a dream, such a special moment and lots of memories.
Such a wonderful carol service. “My husband Ian and I had a fantastic time in London, as well shopping to finish off the weekend.” Also in the audience at the carol concert were Jamie Brand, MBE, who is head of expressive arts at Annan Academy and well known for his musical teaching and leadership of organisations such as Annan Town Band, St John’s Church Choir, the Regional Youth Choir and Dumfries Choral Society.
