A person with diabetes is unable to create enough insulin or may not be able to create insulin at all. It is important to manage the disease correctly as untreated high blood sugar levels can be deadly.
There are different forms of diabetes - type one and type two - with more type two accounting for more than 90 per cent of cases around the world.
Although both conditions share the same signs, individuals with type one diabetes tend to experience a faster onset of symptoms - reports The Express.
