Coronation Street star teases 'special' scenes as he confirms co-star exit and says 'it won't be the same'
manchestereveningnews.co.ukCoronation Street star Ryan Prescott has opened up about the impending exit of co-star Chris Gascoyne. Fans were already under the impression that the actor would be leaving the ITV soap at some point before the end of this year as Peter Barlow.
His planned exit was confirmed by the actor himself to Metro.co.uk in July. He said that his character of Peter 'is very close to his heart,' while a Coronation Street spokesperson told the publication that the door is 'left open' - meaning the 55-year-old could return in the future.
Chris first appeared as Peter in 2000 during Corrie's 40th anniversary live episode. He then left the role in 2003 and returned in 2007 for a brief stint before returning full-time in 2008.
In January 2014 it was confirmed that Chris would be leaving once again, but the following year he did reprise the role for two episodes for the funeral of Deirdre Barlow, played by Anne Kirkbride.
