CORONATION STREET's James Burrows has wasted no time in securing his first role since quitting Coronation Street. The actor will be leaving Weatherfield after two years playing the role of resident doctor Ali Neeson.

The 28-year-old has joined the cast of Happy Monday's Shaun Ryder biopic Twisting My Melon, based on the singer's autobiography of the same bane.

Speaking on the Talk Derby To Me podcast, and without giving too much away, James mentioned he would be in the movie and filming is scheduled to take place this month.

The flick will document Ryder’s story from childhood, how he was desperate to follow in his dad Derek's footsteps and be in a rock band and livee as a local working-class guitar hero dubbed the ‘Horseman’.
