CORONATION Street has axed a freelance director over "offensive" comments made online. Steve Finn has been dropped from the soap's self-employed pool of workers.
The Huffington Post reports he claimed racism in the media didn't exist on Facebook and mocked TV historian David Olusoga who spoke out about his experience.
He also took aim at director Noel Clarke after he told BBC Radio 5 Live that he asked for a more diverse production crew on his set.
ITV said: "We have been made aware of comments on social media by a freelance director, Steve Finn, which are inconsistent with the values of both Coronation Street and ITV. "The director will not therefore be returning to Coronation Street ." Steve has worked on Coronation for the past two.
