Simon Mellors was on remand at HMP Manchester when he died in his cell on February 25, 2018. He was found hanged in his cell after telling a nurse he was seeing visions of his former partner and victim's face, a court heard.

He had left a written a letter, in which he stated: "I have no intention of living my life without her." In 1999 Mellors, 56, was convicted of murdering his then partner, Pearl Black, at their home in Bramcote, Nottingham.
