College's first festival of football at Ravenscraig is a confidence booster for students

There’s nothing quite like the beautiful game of football to bring people together, boost confidence and build team spirit.And with that in mind, the supported learning department at New College Lanarkshire (NCL) held its first football festival for students at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility earlier this month.The students who participated helped to plan and organise the “Summer Kick-Off” event, which took place on June 1, sourcing supplies from local businesses and support form lecturers, support staff and management.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

"Another small group performed a cheerleading routine which they had been practicing in class for the previous few weeks, this was absolutely wonderful to watch as the students have a variety of challenges which they overcame.”When the football kicked-off dozens of eager students showed off their skills on the turf as they tried to outscore their opponents.The refs had their work cut out as there were some tasty tackles.
