Graeme Stewart admitted he was probably a bit of a footballing lunatic when Buckie Thistle took the gamble on appointing him as their manager.The Aberdonian, who is the longest serving manager in the Highland League, will lead his team proudly out at Celtic in the Scottish Cup this weekend.
It will be the biggest game in the club’s proud history and for Stewart it is another chance to thank the Highland League outfit for taking a chance on him.‘Spider’ had been a player at Victoria Park and decided to hang up his boots at 30 when he was indirectly given the manager’s job.
It was a move that didn’t come with universal approval as some of the Buckie directors questioned the appointment of a player who had his own disciplinary problems back in 2014, first in a caretaker capacity.
Stewart has had various opportunities to leave but has remained loyal to Buckie and wants to get them into the Scottish Professional Football League ranks.He said: “I have had two or three opportunities and I haven’t taken them for various reasons.
