A celebration is planned at Kirkbean Primary ahead of the summer holidays. The school will be mothballed at the end of the term, with youngsters moving to other schools.

And everyone connected with the school is being given the opportunity to pop into the school on Friday, June 21. Headteacher, Helen Anderson, said: “It’s a chance for people past and present, anyone linked with Kirkbean Primary, to come in to have another look around, which several of them won’t have done for some time. “They can have a look at some of the archive material – we have old registers, which are interesting to look at, and they can ring the bell. “The parent council are very kindly putting a barbecue on for nothing. “Everyone is invited – all ages, current staff, past pupils – and it’s very informal.“It’s a chance to look at everything nostalgically and treasure what’s there.” The school will be open from 4pm until 7pm on Friday, June 21.

Before then, there’s still one more term for the current pupils – who have been given the chance to choose some of the activities they’ll be doing.

Mrs Anderson added: “They now know about all the amazing things that are going to be happening. “For example, we’re going to Blair Drummond Safari Park, we’re going ice skating, we’re going to the cinema. “There’s a lot of really nicer stuff the children are going to be doing that’s going to fill the term with nice memories. “It’s all about them – it’s about the memories but it’s also about the children that are here and making sure they’re OK going forward.”
