Carluke Rovers boss says job is a new challenge, and a fresh start for players

New Carluke Rovers boss Thomas Devine says it’s a fresh start for his players and a new challenge for him in the West of Scotland Fourth Division.Devine left Forth Wanderers on December 18, ending a 17-year association with the club, looking for a break.But Paul Davies had stepped aside at Carluke to take up the role of general manager and asked Devine if he would consider replacing him.Devine comes in with Rovers 10th in the 16-team league as they host Easterhouse on Saturday, and the new boss expects a good reaction from his players.He said: “It’s a fresh start for the guys that are there, for me it’s a wee start for me to have a look.“Saturday is a starting point, to get a gauge of where we’re at, and take it from there.“For me, it’s a fresh opportunity, a fresh perspective to go on and probably test myself a wee bit again.“It’s a couple of divisions down, and I’ll need a bit of time to familiarise myself with some of the stuff in that division, and get used to some things.”On taking up the job, Devine said: “I spoke with Paul and [secretary] Stevie Kane and I’m looking forward to getting started.
