Burnside woman leads compensation fight for female pensioners affected by state pension changes

A Burnside woman is leading the fight for women born in the 1950s affected by changes to the state pension age to get the compensation they are owed.In 1995, the UK Government legislated to incrementally increase women’s state pension age from 60 to 65 to match the pension age of men.

Subsequent UK governments then sped up this equalisation.Many women argue that they were not notified of the changes - plunging their retirement plans and personal finances into disarray.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
