Withington-born mixed martial arts fighter Brendan Loughnane has secured another shot at a $1m finals windfall, promising his fans he'll bring another world title back to Manchester.
The 34-year-old, who was brought up in the Manchester suburb, triumphed over American featherweight and UFC veteran Kai Kamaka III in a split decision in Washington DC.
The victory means he will face Russian Timur Khizriev in the Professional Fighters League (PFL) featherweight title final. The bout, with a £1m prize, will take place later this year, with an exact date, time and location yet to be finalised. He beat Bubba Jenkins to win the PFL featherweight title and the promotion's illustrious seven-figure prize in November 2022 and will now look to complete a double.
