A drug dealer has been jailed after cops were led straight to his huge cannabis farm when his house alarm went off. The alarm at Eric Hughes’ property sounded in the early hours.

And when police attended to ensure everything was in order, they discovered three large black growing tents with 78 “well maintained and healthy” cannabis plants.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard the plants could fetch a staggering £46,000 – with Hughes claiming he used the drugs to pay off debt.

An expert said the drugs being grown in the Carlibar Road property in Barrhead were for “onward sale and supply as the quantity is excessive for personal use”.
