nme.comAriana Grande has premiered the music video for ‘The Boy Is Mine’ featuring You‘s Penn Badgley.In an inversion of his role in the hit Netflix thriller, in which he plays a stalker, Badgley ends up being the one who’s stalked in the new visuals.He plays Max, a city mayor tasked with tackling a rat problem which he does by rounding up the local cats and releasing them all at once to kill the rodents.
Grande plays a city resident obsessed with Badgley, concocting a love potion to make him fall in love with her.In one scene, Grande is seen making and then wearing a Catwoman-style costume as she goes to Max’s apartment.
She uses her cat claws to carve a round hole in his window and breaks into the building, where she proceeds to attempt to force-feed him the love potion.In the end, it turns out she doesn’t need it – Max throws it against the wall, takes off her masks and falls for her anyway.‘The Boy Is Mine’ samples the 1998 hit of the same name by Brandy and Monica.
Both of them have cameo appearances in the video, where they play news reporters discussing Max’s plan. Check out the visuals below:The song is taken from Grande’s recent seventh studio LP, ‘Eternal Sunshine’.
