Bosses at the UK's largest NHS health trust have been slammed by staff and patients over plans to axe an 'essential' shuttle bus service linking hospitals.
Medics and staff at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), which employs more than 28,000 people and runs 10 hospitals, say they are concerned about the 'abrupt discontinuation' of the service 'with less than six weeks notice'.
They have spoken out over a 'lack of consultation', saying thousands of people, including those facing financial hardship and illness, both patients and staff, rely on it.
A petition has now been launched. Free for staff buses run Monday to Friday from MFT's Oxford Road campus, home to Manchester Royal Infirmary, the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Saint Mary's, to Trafford General Hospital and Wythenshawe.
