Budget supermarket Aldi has followed the lead of Asda and Boots in renaming one of their store aisles. In March, shoppers praised supermarket Asda when it changed the name of their ‘feminie hygiene’ aisle to period products , with Boots following a month later.
Aldi is updating the signage in its stores for items such as tampons, towels and panty liners to now refer to them as ‘period products’ rather than 'feminine hygiene' products.
The aisle name change will be welcomed by campaigners, as the word 'hygiene' implies that periods are unhygienic, adding to negative stigma that surrounds menstruating.
