A family has said their long wait for 'answers' goes on after their toddler daughter died aged two almost three years ago. Alta Fixsler, who tragically passed away in October, 2021, was the subject of two high-profile legal battles involving her parents and a hospital trust.
Alta suffered a severe brain injury at birth, and doctors said she was unable to breathe, eat or drink without sophisticated medical treatment.
The youngster had been on life-sustaining treatment, but the High Court ruled it should be withdrawn, before going on to decide it should take place at a hospice - against the wishes of Alta's parents. But Alta's parents, members of Salford's Hasidic Jewish community, said their faith meant they could not agree to steps that would lead to her death and urged the court to allow her to travel to a hospital in Israel for life-sustaining treatment.
