A £4.95 jumper discovered in a Highland charity shop has ended up raising £1000 to help those facing a terminal illness.Holiday resort boss Andrew Brodie, 53, spotted the hand-knitted artisan cream jumper in Aviemore’s Sue Ryder shop in February but only discovered that it was worth more than £350 after looking up the label online. It was then Andrew, 53, and partner Rebecca Rutherford, 48, who run Doune Knoydart Restaurant and Rooms in Wester Ross decided to offer the charity a 3-day break to auction.Andrew said: “I hummed and hawed about if I needed another jumper but bought it in the end for £4.95.

But later I found a label still inside and realised it had never been worn and found an advert on Facebook with the very jumper previously being advertised.“ I spoke to Mary who runs Cuaig Crafts who said the jumper was originally bought new for £350.

After I picked my jaw up off the floor I realised I’d got a brilliant £350 jumper for £4.95 and the charity shop had been done out of quite a lot of money.”Andrew called the charity shop.

He said: “I explained we could offer a three night stay for an employee or deserving customer to make up for the difference in money.
