Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction

The exact circumstances as to what caused his death are unclear at this time, however it is believed that late in the evening on September 21 an incident occurred in a street where Mr Richards was hit on the head with a bottle.The dad-of-three, who resided with his partner and children, was taken to hospital where he died.
A post-mortem examination by a doctor in Prague gave a provisional cause of death as brain trauma, swelling, and haemorrhaging.Coroner Patricia Morgan said there was reason to suspect the death of Merthyr Tydfil-born Mr Richards was violent or unnatural.
She adjourned the inquest for a "full investigation" to take place and offered condolences to Mr Richards' family.Wales Online previously reported allegations from Mr Richards' family that he was hit to the back of the head in a "blind attack" on a city street.
