Woman carried on stretcher after being helped by mountain rescuers near reservoir

A woman had to be carried on a stretcher before being rushed to hospital after becoming injured near a Bolton reservoir. Eleven people from Bolton Mountain Rescue Team rushed to the 48-year-old's aid after being called out to Wayoh Reservoir, on the border with Lancashire.

North West Ambulance Service contacted the team shortly before 11.40am this morning (October 2) after the woman had suffered a leg injury.

Mountain rescuers assessed the woman and provided her with painkillers, before handing her to the care of paramedics. She was then taken to hospital by ambulance, having been helped by Bolton Mountain Rescue Team for more than two hours.

In a post on Facebook this evening, a spokesperson for Bolton Mountain Rescue Team said: "At 11.39 this morning the team was contacted by North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust who requested us to attend the vicinity of Wayoh Reservoir, where a 48-year-old female had suffered a very painful leg injury.
