The organisers behind a US version of Glasgow’s Willy Wonka Experience have apologised to customers after admitting no big name stars have signed up to appear.House of Illuminati LA plan to stage a Los Angeles version of the infamous Glasgow Wonka event that was so bad it became a worldwide online phenomenon.

The company claimed that stars including Timothee Chalamet, who played Wonka in the recent film, were in the frame to attend.They also claimed top names like Nathan Fielder and Zak Galifianakis could be involved.

But now organisers have admitted none of the big stars will attend the event - sparking fears it could be as disastrous as the Glasgow version.A spokesman told fans in an email: “Formerly the Eventbrite page had said Nathan, Zak, and Timothee ‘might’ show up, it was intentionally cheekily worded as we have reached out to some of their teams for participation, but had not heard confirmation back yet.“We are in the process of securing more talent.“We are extremely sorry for any confusion this caused, and will 100 per cent offer refunds for folks who purchased tickets.
