Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lynn Lopez (born July 24, 1969), also known by her nickname J.Lo, is an American actress, singer, dancer, fashion designer, producer and businesswoman. In 1991, Lopez began appearing as a Fly Girl dancer on In Living Color, where she remained a regular until she decided to pursue an acting career in 1993. For her first leading role in the 1997 Selena biopic of the same name, Lopez received a Golden Globe nomination and became the first Latin actress to earn over US$1 million for a film. She went on to star in Anaconda (1997) and Out of Sight (1998), later establishing herself as the highest-paid Latin actress in Hollywood.

Luxury care home with cocktail lounge, private dining and cinema set to be approved

Plans for a luxury 60-bed care home, right on the doorstep of an Ayrshire golf course, are expected to receive the green light next week.The multi-million pound proposals also include a cafe, private dining, residents’ cinema - and even a cocktail lounge.The ambitious plans are part of a £10m capital investment in the region and were previously unveiled by privately-owned East Kilbride-based Northcare Scotland Ltd.The firm had earmarked a patch of land on Prestwick St Cuthbert Golf Club, Prestwick, for their grand design.

The land on East Road, which is the club’s former practice area, is understood to be surplus to requirements.Now it could be turned into Ayrshire’s latest care home, supporting scores of older residents.Councillors on South Ayrshire Council’s Regulatory Panel (Planning) will discuss the proposals at a meeting on Thursday, May 9.They have been recommended to approve the application - despite more than 10 written objections, in addition to one objection from Prestwick Community Council.The applicants claim that, if approved, the care home will generate in the region of 65-70 jobs “across all departments,” the development costs of the site would represent an investment of approximately £2.3m for the South Ayrshire economy- and a “capital investment” of nearly £10 million in the local area.Agents in the proposals are the Glasgow-based UNUM Partnership.

Also supporting the application are design solutions firm Cundall.Th UNUM Partnership said in their design statement: “The proposed development will provide much needed accommodation for the ever-increasing elderly population, allowing them to live their lives with dignity and independence with specialist assistance at hand.“The site at East Road offers an
