Wigan Athletic's administrators give update on plans to start the League One season

The club was plunged into a shock administration at the start of July and the subsequent points deduction applied at the end of last season condemned the Latics to relegation.

The DW Stadium side finished the campaign in 13th, but were plunged into the relegation zone at the conclusion of the campaign after a deduction of 12 points was applied.The club’s administrators, Begbies Traynor, appealed against the 12-point penalty and went before an independent tribunal.

The appeal failed and was dismissed by an independent Arbitration panel, the EFL confirmed last month. An initial deadline set by the administrators to sell the club by the end of August has passed and the Latics have already played a competitive matches in the Carabao Cup against.
