Sandra Oh has earned huge acclaim, not to mention multiple awards for playing the determined Eve Polistri in Killing Eve and now she’s ready to tackle another inspiring female lead.

The Greys Anatomy alum has signed to play Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim, the first woman to ever head up the English department at the elite Pembroke College, in Netflix’s new comedy-drama The Chair.

Along with holding her own as a woman in the top job, her character is forced to face down resistance as one of only a few people of colour on staff.

Here’s what you need to know about The Chair ahead of its release this month: While The Chair might have a comedy surface it tackles issues that working women can definitely relate to.

Meredith Willson’s nostalgic slice of Americana was already proudly old-fashioned when it debuted in 1957, with “Seventy-Six Trombones” leading Broadway down a cornpone path that shows like the moody Carousel or the finger-snapping West Side Story were trying so hard to avoid.
