Dave Myers never publicly confirmed the details of his cancer diagnosis as he shared his health battle with fans. The Hairy Bikers star tragically died on Wednesday at the age of 66, with heartbroken close friend and co-star Si King announcing the news of his passing on behalf of his family on Thursday.Dave once shared his reasons in 2022 for deciding to keep the type of cancer he’d been diagnosed with, as writes the Mirror.He admitted in an interview that he “did not want to be judged”.He told the Guardian his reasons were because “everybody then goes Googling, everybody becomes an amateur doctor … And I don’t want to be judged – yet".He added: "A huge inconvenience is the best way to describe it." While Dave spent 15-years in Aberdeenshire running an antique shop, he was most well known for his BBC TV and cook book series, the Hairy Bikers.Dave and Si had recently returned for a new series - The Hairy Bikers Go West.

The duo made their way down the west coast of the UK for the BBC Two series, journeying to stunning seaside destinations, including across the west coast of Scotland, to learn more about their restaurants and local recipes.It was an emotional return to TV for the pals after a break from screens last year.

Si had emotionally told the BBC as the show launched: "It’s great getting back here with my best mate. We didn’t think 18 months ago that we’d be on the bikes again wandering around Dave’s backyard and it's wonderful that we are."Meanwhile, a smiling Dave added: "It’s been glorious.
