West Lothian resident recalls how his life changed thanks to Guide Dogs for the Blind Association

Former IT worker Bob Sim felt like a prisoner in his own home when his vision deteriorated and he found himself constantly reliant on others to get around.However, four years ago his life was changed in so many ways when black Labrador Gem walked through the door thanks to charity Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.And as we celebrate this year the 90th anniversary of the UK’s first guide dogs being trained and matched to their owners, with the charity being founded in 1934 we spoke to Bob about the difference a working companion has made to his life.The dad-of-four from Whitburn recalled: “I’ve had vision almost all my life but could manage it.
