Michael J. Fox left no dry eyes in the room at the 2024 BAFTAs. On Sunday, the Back to the Future star made a surprise appearance at the British awards show to present Best Film!
In the wake of his 1991 Parkinson’s diagnosis, public appearances have steadily dwindled, now becoming relatively few and far between — so this was CERTAINLY a welcome one. But once he got to the podium, he managed to stand on his feet to present. The camera cut in between the 62-year-old and the audience, which included the likes of Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Christopher Nolan, Robert Downey Jr., Barry Keoghan, and many others, who all got emotional at the sight of the ’80s legend.
After he stood up, so did they — the packed house of A-listers gave him a standing ovation. Watch the touching moment (below): Michael went on to award Oppenheimer as Best Film, but on X (Twitter), fans were far more interested in what an inspiration he is: So wonderful.
