Ukraine invasion vigil planned by Dundee's Stobswell community for Wednesday night

Dundee’s Stobswell community is set to make a stand against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Locals will gather outside Morgan Academy on Wednesday night to call for peace and standing against the horrific war.

From 6pm, the distinctive blue and yellow Ukrainian national flag will be projected on the school building to keep up awareness around the conflict where citizens are being bombed in their homes, places of work and schools.

A spokesman for the Stobswell Forum said they believe that in 2022 “children shouldn’t be forced to face this type of trauma anywhere in the world.”And they added: “With this act of solidarity with the people of Ukraine, we remind all members of the Morgan Academy and Stobswell community that we are not powerless.“Our communities can change things for the better.”Anyone is invited to the green in front of the academy between 6pm and 6.30pm tomorrow.DundeeLive brings you the latest headlines from Dundee and beyond.But did you know you all the ways you can stay informed with us?You can get our top stories sent straight to your inbox with our daily news updates.
