A mum claims her life was ‘turned upside down’ after taking her sick baby girl to hospital sparked a social services probe. Aliyah Carter sought medical care after her six-month-old Lilah was up throughout the night with vomiting in July last year. But when doctor’s at the Swansea hospital noticed a bruise on the baby’s leg, social services were called with the 21-year-old separated from her daughter for weeks.
No evidence of abuse was found and the mother and baby were later reunited. But the young mum has been left traumatised by the ordeal.
She told WalesOnline: "Whenever I think about what happened or talk about it I break down. I just think about how people can come into your life, turn it upside down and then go back to their families and homes and not take a second thought about it.“My daughter had been really sick all night and she hadn't slept at all so I called 111.
They told me to come into the hospital to get her checked out. We went to the A&E department of Morriston Hospital where they checked her over before they sent her up to the paediatric department."The nurse saw us first and examined my daughter.
