Tragedy as walker dies in Lake District forest

A walker tragically died after suffering a cardiac arrest in a forest in the Lake District. Emergency crews raced to the scene at the Miterdale Forest last Saturday (August 10) at around 11.30am, Lancs Live reports.

The North West Ambulance Service received an initial urgent 999 call over concerns that a male walker was in cardiac arrest.

The Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team (WMRT) attended, as the air ambulance also landed. Despite the best efforts of emergency teams, the walker sadly did not survive. In a statement on Facebook last night, WMRT said: "An urgent call was received from North West Ambulance Service about a male walker in cardiac arrest. "Helimed 58 and land ambulances were tasked by NWAS and a full callout initiated.
