But the Saints striker admits financial constraints might take a permanent switch out of the equation - unless he proves his worth to the Paisley club between now and the end of the season.Watt joined the Buddies on loan from Dundee United on transfer deadline day in January and has made eight appearances in the stripes so far, bagging his first goal against Livingston last weekend.While he’s more than comfortable at the SMiSA Stadium, he knows his wage demands might rule out a permanent switch unless he makes himself indispensable to Stephen Robinson and the club.Watt told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “I think it might be difficult to stay here based on finances.
I’ve not spoken to the manager.“But I need to be successful first before I expect him to push the boat out for me.“Come the summer I don’t know what’s going to happen with my parent club either.
Obviously I don’t want to go back if I’m treated the same way I was before.“But it’s a new management and a good manager, a guy I know of well and I’ve played against so maybe things change that way.“It’s a possibility, if Jim Goodwin gets the job.
By all accounts I’ve heard he’s done a really good job.“I know the results haven’t been going in his favour. but everyone I speak to speaks very positively of him.“I love it at St Mirren and I’d love to come back.
