A toddler was left "hysterical" after being attacked by a dog in the middle of the street in broad daylight. Emma Owens, 3, was left with a bite mark on her side after she was set upon by the Staffie-type dog in Dennistoun, Glasgow.
Her mum, Elizabeth Owens, 36, picked Emma up from nursery last Thursday, August 10, and was walking along Whitehill Street at around 4pm when she noticed the dog out with its owner, reports Glasgow Live. The owner dropped the dog's lead for a moment and the pet darted towards Emma and snapped at her side, knocking her over.
Elizabeth managed to grab her daughter out of the way as the animal attempted to go for her again. The mum claims she then noticed the dog try to go for another girl before the owner got it under control Elizabeth said: "I told [Emma] not to go near the dog.
The woman dropped the lead, as she was picking up dog dirt, and turned her back."It went straight for [Emma], it could have taken a chunk right out her stomach.
