Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (born March 5, 1963), better known by his stage name Joe Exotic, is an American former zoo operator, internet personality, musician, and convicted felon. The former owner and operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (a.k.a. G. W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Maldonado-Passage had claimed to be the most prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. He twice unsuccessfully ran for public office, first for President of the United States in 2016 as an independent, and then for Governor of Oklahoma in 2018 as a Libertarian.
Carole Baskin
Carole Baskin (born June 6, 1961) is an American animal rights activist and owner of Big Cat Rescue, a non-profit animal sanctuary based near Tampa, Florida. Baskin drew public attention when she was featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness about Oklahoma-based private zoo operator known as Joe Exotic. The Netflix series follows both Baskin and Joe Exotic, filming their ongoing and escalating feuds over exotic animals in private zoos. Following the series' release, Baskin has been targeted by Internet memes related to the disappearance of Don Lewis, her second husband.

‘Tiger King’ star Joe Exotic, 61, quarantined with scabies in Fort Worth prison: lawyer

The Dallas Morning News.Per the Mayo Clinic, scabies is a “contagious skin rash caused by a mite that burrows under the skin and lays eggs.”The former zookeeper, 61, is currently incarcerated at the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, serving a 21-year sentence for scheming to hire a hitman to murder nemesis Carole Baskin and violating federal wildlife laws.A representative for the Fort Worth prison confirmed an outbreak of scabies occurred in a housing unit.

Visitation is temporarily suspended to the unit. The prison declined to comment on confinement conditions for anyone in custody but did note that precautions were put in place to reduce the risk of exposure.

They added that they take “communicable infections seriously.”The rep added that the facility “is currently in a state of crisis with staffing, and that includes medical employees.”“We make every effort to ensure the physical safety and health of the individuals confined to our facilities through a controlled environment that is secure and humane,” the spokesperson said.Joe’s lawyer, Roger Roots, told the outlet that his client had been experiencing symptoms including a rash and itching for over a month and a half.His legal team alleged that the reality star had observed “very unsanitary” conditions in the prison, including rats in beds.
